I am a chronic pain patient due to a severe back injury and multiple failed back surgeries, plus fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and inflammatory arthritis. My previous pain management specialist retired and I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Taub. I count myself fortunate because the cause of my pain is clearly seen on X-Ray. Doctors literally wince when they see my X-Rays and read the MRI and CT scans. I realize there are many thousands of people who are in horrible pain and cannot clearly show why, but they are still in pain. I have now been a patient for 8 months and I can honestly say that I have been treated with respect and compassion and dignity every time at The Taub Group. Dr. Taub can be brief, but he has never ignored my questions nor has he refused to answer them. He seems to listen carefully and most importantly he does what he says he is going to do. He writes down what medication needs to be prescribed, makes notes on any changes and seems to know my history when we talk. We discuss what is working and what is not and have an adult conversation about the options. For my part, I have never failed a drug screen, have never lost my pain meds, and I take them as prescribed. When I ask about medication choices and possible changes, Dr. Taub looks me in the eye and answers my questions. They can no longer prescribe pain meds and benzodiazepines at the same time - my understanding is that NO ONE does anymore. I don’t agree that this is a valid policy but because others abused their meds, the medical boards made it so no one can take those two classes of meds at the same time. But that’s not Dr. Taub’s fault. He is bound by certain rules and laws and regulations, and I respect that. I have read the other reviews that say the staff members are “rude” and I haven’t found that to be true at all! However, you must treat them with the same respect and kindness that you expect from them. When I had to change my appointment at the last minute they let me know it would be a $25 charge. I respect that mainly because they have never kept me waiting for very long at my appointments. I am in and out within an hour. I’ve never waited more than 10-15 minutes to be seen and I have never been left sitting in a waiting room more than a few minutes. They are respectful of my time and they never seem to double book appointments like other doctors have done. When I am close to the end of my prescriptions, I notify the doctor and he is VERY PROMPT in responding. When I asked about the ketamine treatments they were very helpful in explaining the treatments. I was nervous and a little anxious, but I did start with the rapid dissolving tablets (RDT) and I have had some improvement in my constant pain. I am planning to start the IV Ketamine Infusions at the beginning of the year. Overall I can highly recommend Dr. Taub and his practice in Charlotte for pain management.
