I really can't say enough positive things about my experience with Calliope Health Ketamine. As someone who's dealt with major depression for 15 years, I've run the gamut of traditional medications, have tried numerous psychotherapy approaches, and even went through a series of Ketamine infusions at two different clinics in years past. While past Ketamine infusions proved helpful for my depression in a way that traditional medication and therapy did not, the other clinics I went to left me with questions about dosing, frequency, and I craved a more holistic understanding of and individualized approach to my treatment. Also, past clinics I went to were run by pain management specialists who, while well-intentioned, were not versed in psychology.
Calliope's approach in combining Ketamine infusions with expert nurse care as well as psychotherapy (if you choose to add psychotherapy sessions to your infusion) has been life-changing. I found the practice online on a particularly dark Sunday afternoon, and I filled out the inquiry form on their website. Keith, the owner of the practice, called me on my cell phone within the hour, which I did not at all expect on a Sunday. He took time out of his day to call me and help me get set up with a consultation with the practice nurse, Anna, as soon as possible. That right there said something about Keith and his practice's dedication to helping people suffering from depression.
Anna has been incredible throughout this journey from the start, jumping in to thoughtfully educate me about Ketamine infusions and work with me to develop a personalized infusion dosing and frequency plan. She has really made me feel at-ease, and you can instantly tell how caring, thoughtful, and smart she is. That matters a lot when you're allowing yourself to be vulnerable under the influence of Ketamine.
I've also been very fortunate to work with Julia during psychotherapy sessions after my infusions. I'll admit I felt resistant at first, as this was my first time pairing an infusion with therapy immediately after, and I wasn't sure how to approach the sessions at first. Julia's flexibility and kindness put me at ease fast, and she offers different ways for us to approach our sessions based on how I am feeling that day. Some days we talk, some days we do a guided meditation, some days both, some days we sit in silence, and having her calming presence there in the hour after an infusion helps me feel grounded and safe. Julia is incredibly perceptive, picking up on parts of me that I wouldn't have expected her to understand so fast.
In the last 4 weeks since I began my infusions, I feel like my inner self is coming alive again. I'm noticing beauty in my surroundings again, my brain fog has cleared so much that I could finish a book for the first time in awhile, I'm exercising and generally have more energy, my ruminating thoughts have gotten so much better, and when I do find myself following a negative train of thought, I'm much better at redirecting my brain. I'm also making plans with friends again and actually enjoying things. I feel like I have more resilience, patience, stamina, mental and physical capacity, and people around me have noticed. It's really remarkable.
Keith, Anna, and Julia, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so happy I found you.
